Jet
Can you tell that I’m watching JTV?
I’ve been wondering who the chick is they’ve got singing on “Put your money where your mouth is,” or whatever their new song is – I wondered if it was the girl from… ack, cant remember the band… sang “Buy me a pony”… anyway, turns out it’s not a chick – it’s Nick Chester himself! Guess they did some post-production thing to his voice.
OK Go, on Treadmills
I have finally seen this video! They really are just on treadmills, but it’s so very clever! And the fact that it was all done in one take (with lots of practice, obviously), just makes it even more clever. Plus it’s a great song.
Audioslave
I am _really_ getting into Audioslave at the moment – I think they’ve got a new album out at the moment, so they’re getting played a bit more. I had never actually realised that it’s the dude from Sound Garden (note: I ahve always thought that Sound Garden and Savage Garden should have swapped names, cos there ain’t nothing savage about Savage Garden…).
Proof that JTV is better than Rage
No6 – I want you so hard (Eagles of Death Metal)
No5 – Hard Road (Hilltop Hoods)
No4 – Young Folks (Peter, Bjorn and John)
No3 – You only live Once (The Strokes) – so I’m not so fussed about that one
No2 – I don’t feel like dancin’ (Scissor Sisters) – first time I’ve heard this one
No1 – Smile (Lily Allen) – yeh, hmm, not entirely convinced by her yet.
AND TZU’s awesome “Sittin’ right in front of me” too!
Idol
I am embarassed to admit that we are watching the Aust Idol trials. I blame J. Anyway, there was a dude just on singing R&B – Marcia and Kyle said yes, Mark said no. He then had a go at the other two, asking them if they really thought that 14 and 15 yo girls would buy R&B (cos they’re the ones who buy Aust Idol, obviously). HELLO!?!?! Who else buys R&B BUT 14 and 15 yo girls?? Goodness me.
And I have to say – Kyle? PRAT.
New Led Zeppelin
Well, new for me anyway. I bought “Presence” – which has Achilles Last Stand (there must be an apostrophe in there…) and Nobody’s Fault but Mine, plus five songs I don’t know; and “In Through the Out Door,” which has In the Evening and All My Love as well as five more songs I don’t know. Pretty good, I reckon.
Jack White
Is there anyone else who thinks that Jack White looks a lot like Johnny Depp? And that Lollapalooza at least, he didn’t look that great, and didn’t sound that great either… I dunno, is that sacrilege?
MTV Movie Awards – Snakes on a Plane!!
Watching these awards – it’s obviously pretty old, so don’t know why Channel 10 has only just got around to showing it; maybe it’s cheaper that way. Samuel L Jackson is presenting the award for Best Movie (I’m sorry, The Wedding Crashers ??)… but he’s claiming that next year, Snakes on a Plane will be winning next year.
Pft. As if.
HELP! snakes on a plane!!
The bro took a picture of a huge billboard in the US advertising the movie; pretty funny.
My GOODness, Jessica Alba is soooo tacky,
BUT WOW for good timing! I was about to go to bed… but Wolfmother just appeared at the end of the awards! YEH!
Eagles of Death Metal
So, so good! I love “I want you so hard”! And the film clip! Jack Black and Dave Grohl and Josh Holmes! (or whatever). Such a GREAT clip. Very Ocean’s 11 – speakers so big they blow women’s clothes off…. So good!
Rage – for the last time
Yes, watching the last edition of Rage Top 50… until, I guess, the JTV people want a holiday.
Anyway: I cannot BELIEVE that there is a song called “Promiscuous” out! Singing about “promiscuous girl, promiscuous boy” – as if that’s something that they should be proud of! I don’t consider myself a prude (some might disagree), and I guess I would be considered conservative because I’m a Christian, but I fail to understand how anyone can think that being considered promiscuous could be a good thing. Surely no one wants to take seriously someone who is willing to sleep with anybody? I guess it’s good for others who just want random sex with no attachments, but I dont believe that he majority of people really do think like that – and even if lots do in their teens and twenties, later in life it’s definitely something that will fail to satisfy, if it ever did.
Argh.
