MTV Movie Awards – Snakes on a Plane!!

Watching these awards – it’s obviously pretty old, so don’t know why Channel 10 has only just got around to showing it; maybe it’s cheaper that way. Samuel L Jackson is presenting the award for Best Movie (I’m sorry, The Wedding Crashers ??)… but he’s claiming that next year, Snakes on a Plane will be winning next year.

Pft. As if.

HELP! snakes on a plane!!

The bro took a picture of a huge billboard in the US advertising the movie; pretty funny.

My GOODness, Jessica Alba is soooo tacky,

BUT WOW for good timing! I was about to go to bed… but Wolfmother just appeared at the end of the awards! YEH!

Rage – for the last time

Yes, watching the last edition of Rage Top 50… until, I guess, the JTV people want a holiday.

Anyway: I cannot BELIEVE that there is a song called “Promiscuous” out! Singing about “promiscuous girl, promiscuous boy” – as if that’s something that they should be proud of! I don’t consider myself a prude (some might disagree), and I guess I would be considered conservative because I’m a Christian, but I fail to understand how anyone can think that being considered promiscuous could be a good thing. Surely no one wants to take seriously someone who is willing to sleep with anybody? I guess it’s good for others who just want random sex with no attachments, but I dont believe that he majority of people really do think like that – and even if lots do in their teens and twenties, later in life it’s definitely something that will fail to satisfy, if it ever did.

Argh.

Cookie Monster

I happened to turn to the ABC this morning, in the process of watching Spicks and Specks (which I taped from Wednesday, and I MISSED THE TIE-BREAK QUESTION!!), and there was Cookie Monster. He was testing which shape of cookie tastes the best – it was really quite funny, he went on a bit about texture and aroma; clearly one for the mums (moms?). Anyway, I have finally figured out how he eats the cookie! Other people might have noticed this before, but I haven’t really paid attention to Cookie Monster for a while. Everyone knows that he is a very messy eater… well, that’s the trick: the hand crumbles the cookie up, so that none of it actually stays in the mouth – it falls out! Very tricky.

Incidentally, J thinks that Cookie Monster has sold out, by now saying that cookies are a ‘sometimes food’.

How to watch a season of West Wing in 4 days

Well, any TV series really:

1. Be obsessed.
2. Have an obsessed partner. Alternatively, have no partner. Having a not-obsessed partner is not an option.
3. Watch until late at night
4. Have at least one cold, rainy, disgusting day.
5. Be determined to boast to the friends that loaned you the DVDs about your acheivement.
6. Be obsessed.

Saturday mornings

So I haven’t got up this morning to watch bad music videos. Instead, I have stayed in bed, listening to the rain which has put a spanner in the plans to prune some roses – mind you, that’s a plan that may well not actually have got off the ground, since it’s not likely to get above 11C today. I’ve watched the 7th episode of West Wing Season 6 (at this rate, we’ll finish it in a week… we only started watching it on Thursday night, when we watched the entire first disc – 4 episodes), and episode 8 of Farscape season 2. I might actually have to venture out today to get more Farscape, although when J gets back maybe we’ll watch more West Wing… and I am hopeful of getting more Stargate tomorrow, too, since our suppliers are apparently nearly finished it… It’s a great weekend to have no markin to do.

Jimmy and Alan

West Wing 6 – Jimmy Smits! Not entirely sure why he ranks as getting into the lead credits, but oh well. And in the lead pictures on the DVD is Alan Alda! No idea where he will come in, but I’m very willing to wait and see.

Farscape

The episode I am watching now has Alex Dimitriades in it! How funny! I can’t believe that he is still acting… I wonder how he is making any money. And, classically, he plays a lover.

Zoe is my hero

We’re re-watching Serenity. I love it. Zoe really is fantastic.

I aim to misbehave…

Farscape

We decided to give Farscape a go today, because we haven’t got series 5 of Stargate yet. I’m not yet totally convinced.  We’re on to the second episode. I think I will definitely watch the eight episodes on these two discs, but it will have to be pretty riveting to get the rest of them.  At least, as far as I know, there are only about 4 seasons of it, rather than the ten of Stargate; that’s not quite such a daunting undertaking, should I indeed undertake it. And hey, there’s a number of Aussies in it,and I believe that lots of it was shot here as well.

We love trashy TV

I’m watching a bit at the moment, in between Stargate episodes, as J is mucking around somewhere.  League of Extraordinary Gentlemen is on one channel – I’ve written about it before; I do love its glorious trashiness (although I am still really not convinced by Nemo as some sort of nautical Raj, I do still love the “Call me Ishmael” line) - the Logies is on another, with some terrible dresses; and Law and Order is on yet the other commercial channels.  Love Sunday nights.
